Lesson 19 - Building Blocks
Be The Dad You Wish You Had - Ryan Roy

The video below is NOT a word for word reading of the book. It is the author giving a different perspective on the text to help YOU get a deeper understanding of the material
Building Blocks and Destroying Them.
My son, as far back as I can remember, would stack blocks. You know the wooden ones with the letters, numbers, and different colors with animals on them. These are great learning tools. We would sit for hours stacking them. I would describe the animals on them and make the sounds that the animals make. I would point out the different letters and numbers. Then we would stack them. I would do one and he would do one. He would knock them over and we would laugh. He would want me to rebuild them. Then we learned to build them so high the tower would be taller than him. The challenge was to see how tall we could make it without it falling.
I just did it to make him laugh and learn. The best part was when we would go out to breakfast somewhere and he would take the individual coffee creamers and stack them seven or eight high on the table.
He enjoyed stacking everything. One of my favorite days was at about eighteen months old. He moved the step stool to the kitchen counter where my wife’s Keurig coffee machine is. Next, he pulled out the drawer where all of her K-cups were. Then he stacked them about nine high on the kitchen counter.
Was I scared he might fall? Yes! Did I respond that way? NO!! I literally grabbed my phone and snapped a photo; I was excited he saw something he wanted to do and went after it.
This is foundational learning at its best and it starts with fundamentals.
