Lesson 21 - Throw the Ball
Be The Dad You Wish You Had - Ryan Roy

The video below is NOT a word for word reading of the book. It is the author giving a different perspective on the text to help YOU get a deeper understanding of the material
Throw the Ball or Have Some Tea.
Just engage with your child’s natural tendencies. Boys are naturally more physical than girls, so I would encourage you to go throw rocks into a pond, skip stones, throw a baseball, or run in the park. In my experience being around young girls, they want to playhouse, dress-up dolls, set up the table and have conversation while drinking tea. These things reinforce and cultivate their very natural instincts and abilities. Although a dad may not want to sit and have a cup of tea, it’s allowing your daughter to have quality time with you.
Moms who may be reading this: if your son wants you to throw a baseball, he is telling you that you are important enough to him that he wants to share his physical abilities with you. Dad does not have to be good at having tea; your daughter will show you how. Moms do not have to throw strikes at 100mph; they just need to get the ball back to their sons. Our children are not judging us; they just want to share time with us.
Engage, indulge, and spend time with your children. That is all they want.
