Be The Dad You Wish You Had - Ryan Roy

The video below is NOT a word for word reading of the book. It is the author giving a different perspective on the text to help YOU get a deeper understanding of the material
Go to the Park and Play.
Kids learn so many social and physical skills by being at a park. They learn to engage and play with other kids they may or may not know. They experience climbing, taking risks, laughing, playing, and even getting up after getting hurt. They continue to play because they are in an environment that encourages it. Go to the park as often as you can. It will encourage them to get out of their comfort zone. More importantly, it will encourage you as a parent to get out of your own comfort zone. Encourage them to go down the slides when they are two. Then encourage them to climb stairs, poles, monkey bars, and rock walls. Before you know it, they will no longer need your assistance. You will use these same skills as parents until they become adults.
Parks are a fundamental building block of growth, providing an environment that is fun and encourages doing things outside of their comfort zone. It allows them to develop skills such as engaging with others, and resolving conflicts. All of these things are building a foundation for a well-rounded child in a fun environment
