Lesson 6 - Tummy Time

Be The Dad You Wish You Had - Ryan Roy

The video below is NOT a word for word reading of the book. It is the author giving a different perspective on the text to help YOU get a deeper understanding of the material

Always challenge children. Do not limit them or put your own self-limiting beliefs on them. Try to be very conscious of this. When my son was seven days old, I put him on his tummy for the first time. He struggled to lift his head. He struggled to lift his arms. He was frustrated, but it was a moment of growth. I was there the entire way. As I recorded the event with my cell phone, I said to him, “The faster you can get up the faster you can move out be a productive member of society.” That may seem harsh and insensitive, however, it’s the truth. The more you empower your children to do things, the faster your children will grow and the better off they will be.

Tummy time, early and often, will grow their physical strength and set them up for future challenges and growth they will face in these formative years. This is not only one of their first lessons as a child, but one of your first lessons as a parent. Can you push them beyond what you think they are capable of?
